Information about testing centres in the Folkestone & Hythe district, including the difference between the tests given to those displaying COVID-19 symptoms and those who are not.

Walk-through testing facility in Cheriton for those with symptoms

A walk-through coronavirus testing facility has opened for those with symptoms to book appointments at The Stadium Car Park, Church Road.

This is part of the government's UK-wide drive to continue to improve the accessibility of coronavirus testing for local communities.

Testing is only available for those with coronavirus symptoms - a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. Anyone with one or more of these symptoms should book a test at or by calling 119.

The government is committed to continue expanding the capacity of the network of UK test sites and laboratories to make it even easier to get tested and reduce the time it takes to receive test results.

The new site is situated so it is easily accessible without a car.

Those being tested will be required to follow public health measures, including social distancing, not travelling by taxi or public transport, practising good personal hygiene and wearing a face covering throughout, including while travelling to and from the testing centre.

Anyone attending an appointment at a walk-through test site will be provided with guidance on getting to and from the test site safely, with additional support for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.

Testing at the new site started on 15 December 2020, with appointments made available each day.

Getting a symptom-free test

Everyone without symptoms should get tested every two weeks, especially if you're leaving the house for a necessary reason, such as going to work or shopping for essentials.

Around one in three people with COVID-19 have no symptoms, so get tested regularly to make sure you are not unknowingly spreading the virus.

Symptom-free testing sites are being set up using funding from central government to support local councils and help reduce rates of COVID-19. The locations in the Folkestone & Hythe district are:

  • Folkestone Library, 2 Grace Hill, Folkestone CT20 1HD
  • Hawkinge Community Centre, Heron Forstal Avenue, Hawkinge, Folkestone CT18 7FP

You need to live or work in Kent, be over the age of four, have no symptoms (or be self-isolating), and not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days to be eligible for a syptom-free test.
