Who can apply
The following individuals may be eligible for a council tax discount or exemption:
- Care workers and carers
- Care home resident
- Apprentice
- Recipient of Child Benefit
- Foreign language assistant
- Liable person in need of care
- Occupied annexe
- Occupied by visiting military service personnel
- Occupied by under individuals 18 years of age
- Person in detention
- Person providing care
- Repossessed property
- Student nurses
- Youth training trainees
How to apply
- click on the apply button above, log into your MyAccount (or create an account if you don't already have one) to complete the apply for a discount or exemption form. If you are already logged into your MyAccount the form will automatically open
- complete the relevant questions on the form and submit

You will need to provide, when completing the form:
- your council tax reference number
- the names of all adults living at the address
- any relevant details relating to your reason for applying, for example if you are applying as you are an Apprentice you will need to supply information regarding your qualification, your start and end dates as well as your employer details

What happens next
Once your application has been submitted and processed you will be notified of the outcome. Please note that the council tax team may need to contact you if they have any queries regarding your request.
