Innovative £3 million High Streets Fund launched

Applications for Folkestone & Hythe District Council's £3 million High Streets Fund scheme are now being accepted.

HYTHE HS

Property owners, leaseholders and external organisations can apply for grants between £5,000 and £50,000 to help fund projects which futureproof the district's high streets.

Projects may include external renovation and improvement to commercial property, organising an event(s), or other townscape enhancements to increase the vitality of our community retail heartbeats.

The grants will cover up to 50% of the total project cost in normal circumstances, but applications of up to 100% will be considered in special cases.

Our high streets are incredibly important but need to adapt, so the council has earmarked money to invest in innovative ideas. We hope these projects will sustain our high streets for years to come, and encourage more residents and visitors to explore what we have to offer. I'm excited to see what fantastic ideas have been thought up by local businesses and other organisations.Cllr David Wimble, F&HDC Cabinet Member for the District Economy

Folkestone town centre will benefit from up to £2.2 million of the fund, with the remaining £800,000 allocated to other high streets across the district.

These are Cheriton, Sandgate, Hythe, Dymchurch, New Romney, Lydd, Hawkinge, Lyminge, Sellindge and Elham.

The High Streets Fund will run until the end of March 2021 - or when all of the funds have been allocated. Completed applications will be assessed monthly.
