The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) cover all information held by us. You can submit a request for any information you think we hold
You can also check What do they know, which publishes details of FOI requests made through their site.If you want to request personal data that we hold about you, this is a different process covered by the Data Protection Act known as a subject access request (link not there yet).
You can make a request using the link to the form below. Initially you will be given the opportunity to create a MyAccount (if you don't already have one) which will enable you to track progress of your application. Alternatively you make the request without registering.
There is no charge for an FOI request, however once a request exceeds the appropriate limit we may (if we answer the request) charge all costs in locating and retrieving the information. This charge is calculated at £25 per person per hour.
All EIR requests are charged at £25 per officer hour spent locating or extracting data for your request. If you are unhappy with a fee, the information officer will be happy to try and help you reduce it by refining the request or reducing its scope.
This may mean removing some elements of the request that are less important to you, or placing a more specific time limit on the results you are looking for. If you would like for this to be done, please contact the information officer and provide as much detail as possible about your preferences for the request's handling.
If it is not possible to provide the information electronically or if you ask for paper copies of the information you will be charged for reproduction and postage
You will be advised of any charges before the information is collected, asked whether you still want to go ahead with the request and advised on how to make a payment
We normally have 20 working days from the day after we receive the request to provide a response to your request. Sometimes we are able to extend the deadline to a request, but if we do this we will let you know.
If we are unclear at all about exactly what your request is, then we will contact you to clarify exactly what you want and the timescales for responding to your request will not start until this clarification has been received. We allow 20 working days for clarification to be received before closing the request.
If you believe that an exemption or exception has been incorrectly applied or that you have not received all of the information you are entitled to, you can request a review of the original response. Details of how to do this will be provided with any response to your request.
If you remain dissatisfied you can request an independent review of your case by contacting the ICO.
