Draft Anti-social Behaviour Public Spaces Protection Order consultation 2025

The current Anti-social Behaviour Public Spaces Protection Order is due to expire in the summer of 2025. The council is proposing to renew the PSPO and is keen to hear the views of residents and visitors.

What is a PSPO

A PSPO is used in a defined geographical area to help stop individuals or groups committing anti-social behaviour in a public space.

The type of behaviour has to have a detrimental effect on the quality of life in the locality, be of a persistent or continuing nature and be unreasonable.

Restrictions and requirements are set by the council after consultation with police, the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner and other relevant organisations.

Change to the current PSPO

The only change is an addition to the existing order (extended in 2022). This is the proposed expansion of an area in Hythe due to concerns and reports of unauthorised camping.
