Core Strategy Review Examination 2021 - Main Modifications

Folkestone & Hythe District Council - Core Strategy Review - Main Modifications

During the course of the (virtual) public hearings, held for the Folkestone & Hythe District Council (F&HDC)  - Core Strategy Review Plan, the Inspectors recommended some changes to policies and supporting text, following national planning policy, people's representations and the debate at the Examination.  These are known as 'Main Modifications'.

There are 21 Main Modifications;  these have been given reference number MM01 to MM21

These Modifications for the F&HDC - Core Strategy Review are being published on 1 October 2021 for consultation following the amendments from the Inspectors and in line with the work the Council has completed on them.

Along with the Main Modifications comments may also be made on the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA)

The consultation period will be for six weeks and will close at 5.00pm on 15 November, 2021.

Please note:  The consultation will only be on the Main Modifications to the Core Strategy Review. alongside the SA and the HRA.  The consultation is focused on the Main Modifications and Respondents will not be able to raise new matters, or reopen matters that the Inspectors have already considered.

Changes to the Policies Map

The Policies Map accompanying the Core Strategy Review does not have the same status and changes are not classed as Main Modifications to the plan.  Only one change has been identified and this has been published alongside the Main Modifications for information.

The Council's Policies Map is proposed to be modified with the addition of the Stour Operational Catchments and Chartham and Sellindge Wastewater Treatment Works Catchments. These catchment areas can be viewed below:

How to Comment

Comments can be made on the Main Modifications to the Core Strategy Review alongside the SA and the HRA during the six week period that runs from 1 October 2021 until 5pm on 15 November 2021.

Hard copies of the consultation documents are available to view at all local libraries within the district and at the Civic Centre at the Customer Access Point (you will need to request to view them) during normal opening hours (please see details of this within the website).

Comments should be made through the consultation portal or by completing the appropriate representation form.  A separate form should be used for each comment you wish to make.

It would help the Planning Inspectors if you say in your response whether you support or object to the Main Modifications and set out the reasons why, and also set out any proposed changes to the wording that you would like the Inspectors to consider.

Using the Consultation Portal

Comments on the Main Modifications can be made directly online using the council's consultation portal, which allows you to decide which of the Main Modifications (MM01 - MM21) you wish to comment on and summarise your main points in your own words.

If you have previously made a comment please use the same login details.  You can view the portal via the link: https://folkestone-hythe-consult.objective.co.uk.
