New council tenancy agreement 2025

This page is for F&HDC council tenants only.  If you are not a council tenant view our home page.

Over the next few months we are planning to revise and update the terms and conditions of our tenancy agreement.

Why does the tenancy agreement need updating?

The terms and conditions of our secure tenancy agreement has not had any significant updates since 2006.  Since then there have been a lot of changes to the way we live, to regulation, and generally accepted good practice.  The Agreement needs updating to reflect this.

Progress so far

We carried out an extensive consultation between November 2024 and January 2025.  Thank you to everyone who responded or came along to one of of our drop-in sessions.  As a result a number of changes were made to the proposed new Agreement.

What happens next?

We will soon be writing to all tenants with the final version of the new new tenancy agreement, and giving formal Notice of the date it will come into effect. After this date, these will be the new Terms & Conditions of your council tenancy.

You will not need to sign a new Tenancy Agreement, and your original tenancy start date will not change, but you will be bound by the new Terms & Conditions
