Working on elections is an exciting, busy and rewarding experience.
There are a lot of different job roles available during an election timetable, including working on a Polling Station and at the count venue.
Job descriptions can be viewed by clicking here.
Polling Station staff are responsible for the issue and management of ballot papers to the voter. A polling staff member is required to work from 6.30am until just after 10pm when the poll closes. All polling staff are required to attend training before taking up any offer of employment.
Counting Assistants are employed to verify and count the votes cast at polling stations, together with the postal votes received in the run-up to polling day. This could take place directly after the polling day on the same night, or on a different day entirely.
The rates of pay for election staff are set before each election and are communicated at the time of a job offer.
