How the rating scheme works and what it means to your business
How does it work?
After a routine inspection, we rate your business according to the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme run by the Food Standards Agency.

0 | Urgent improvement necessary |
1 | Major improvement necessary |
2 | Improvement necessary |
3 | Generally satisfactory |
4 | Good |
5 | Very good |

You will be given a sticker to display at your business.
Scheme safeguards - what you need to do
- log into your MyAccount (or create an account if you don't already have one) to complete the form. MyAccount is an easier and quicker way to interact with us and is available 24/7. For information about MyAccount visit the find out more page
- make your payment (if applicable)
Appealing your rating
If you think the rating is unfair and does not reflect standards found, you can appeal within 21 days of receiving your rating.
Right to reply
You can submit comments using the form below to tell customers how you have improved hygiene standards or to explain unusual circumstances at the time of the inspection. These will be published on the ratings website alongside your rating.
Requesting a revisit
You can request a revisit to review your rating. You can submit a request at any time provided you have made the required improvements. There is a fee of £157.60 to request a revisit which is payable when you complete the form.
