If you wish to make house to house collections of money or goods, you must have a licence.
Before you start
You need to apply at least two weeks before the date of the collection.
If you have an exemption from the Home Office, you don't need a permit however please let us know the date you intend to collect, as we allow only two collections per area at any time.

You must be aware that any containers for collecting cash must be sealed and not damaged. Any fundraising materials you hand out should include the charity name and number, as well as a landline contact number. There are also rules about how the buckets should be opened and the money counted. Collectors must have an ID badge including details of their licence to collect.

What happens next?
We'll get in touch if we need any additional information. If everything is ok you'll receive your permit by post along with an order form for your collectors badges, which you will need to send to His Majesty's Stationery Office.
You must have the badges before you can start to collect.
If we refuse your application, we will write to you to tell you why and how you can appeal.
