Four of the district's favourite parks and green spaces will continue to fly the Green Flag after retaining their status for 2023/24.
The Lower Leas Coastal Park, Kingsnorth Gardens, Radnor Park and the Royal Military Canal have all been recognised with the celebrated award once again.
The Green Flag award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces which display the highest environmental standards, are beautifully maintained and have excellent visitor facilities.
All four sites – plus many other extraordinary areas – are lovingly managed by Folkestone & Hythe District Council's hard-working grounds maintenance and property teams all year round.
Cllr Jeremy Speakman, Cabinet Member for Assets and Operations, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to have Green Flags proudly fly at these locations for yet another year.
“The Lower Leas Coastal Park, Kingsnorth Gardens, Radnor Park and the Royal Military Canal are among the district’s favourite spaces, so it’s great to see the effort put into them by the council recognised.”
The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
It recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management across the United Kingdom and around the world.
Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd added: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Folkestone & Hythe District Council in achieving a Green Flag Award.
“These sites are vital green space for the community as they bring people together and provide opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
