A revamped website, an eye-catching tourism campaign and a series of maps are part of a push to encourage more visitors to the district.

Tourism is vital to the local economy with the latest figures* showing the industry in Folkestone and Hythe is worth more than £269 million and supports over 5,000 jobs.

A new tourism campaign aimed at attracting even more visitors to our amazing district has gone live this week ahead of further exciting plans for 2025.

folkestoneandhythe.co.uk has undergone a makeover – showcasing the best of what this corner of the world has to offer both inland and along its 26-mile coastline. A multi-channel campaign - with a nod to activities that can also be enjoyed out of season - will also be running throughout February and March.

And once people have arrived, a new map of Folkestone – created by a local illustrator – will help guide them to attractions and trails across the town. It has been distributed to local attractions and hotels and is also available on the folkestoneandhythe.co.uk website to inspire potential tourists.

New maps of Hythe and Sandgate, as well as Romney Marsh, are also being created and will be made available later this year.

Cllr Rich Holgate, Cabinet Member for the District Economy, said: “We’re delighted to be promoting the unique charms of Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh. Creating these assets for tourists can only help maximise the impact of this exciting chapter for the district.

“More visits will translate into support for local businesses and the economy, so I’m delighted we’re promoting the charms of the district to potential visitors and creating additional elements to add to their experience.”

Time Out recently named Folkestone as the best place to visit in the UK this year, with the upcoming Folkestone Triennial art festival named as one of the highlights of the calendar.
