Twenty-six new homes are to be provided in Hythe as part of the council’s pledge to provide more affordable, energy efficient homes in the district.

The twenty new flats will be let to tenants on the council’s housing list at affordable rents and the six new houses will be available for shared ownership. The new homes will be available in 2026.

The apartment buildings and houses are part of the Sutherland Park development being built by Roddy New Homes and will be 100% fossil fuel-free with air source heat pumps and solar panels.

Cllr Rebecca Shoob, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said: “I am delighted that we are able to provide more homes for our tenants through this Hythe scheme.

“These homes are further evidence of our commitment to provide housing that is both affordable to rent and affordable to heat.”

Cllr Jim Martin, F&HDC leader and Hythe ward councillor, added: "We are absolutely delighted to be able to provide new affordable homes in Hythe. Affordable homes are needed across the district, but these are the first to be built in Hythe for many years".
