Folkestone & Hythe District Council's MyAccount service is now better and easier for users.

There has been a significant increase in transactions through the free online platform, with more than 60% of households (31,000 plus) having signed up since it launched in August 2020.

Users are able to see council information relevant to them all in one place - including bin collections, benefits and council tax - as well as making payments and tracking the progress of reports made to officers.

More than 70% of customers use MyAccount through their mobile devices, such as phones and tablets. From today (11 July), the service has become "mobile first", meaning it is more transactional with less steps for the user. The service areas covered have been widened, enabling people to do more things online.

Cllr Ray Field - Cabinet Member for Digital Transformation and Customer Services - said: "MyAccount has had an excellent take up and by making these improvements, we expect even more people to use it and to benefit from it.

"Services that have not been easily accessible - such as council tax and benefits - will now be easier to find and people will be able to see more clearly what they can do.

"The recycling, waste and bins section has, in particular, been a big success, but we've made this better by introducing even more functionality. For example, if there has been a road accident and a dustcart can't get through to make your collection, you will see a message explaining the delay."

Leader Cllr David Monk said: "We understand that some people can't go online - and we still cater for them - but for the majority who do, they can continue to transact quickly and easily with us online at home or on the move."

For those without digital access, F&HDC's Customer Access Point (CAP) is open between 10am to 4pm on weekdays at the Civic Centre in Castle Hill Avenue. It allows customers to self-service online through computer points, with help available if needed.
