The summer vibes are in full swing in Folkestone & Hythe with residents already making the most of the district's offerings and gorgeous weather.

While some families might be going further afield during the summer school break, there is a whole host of amazing local experiences waiting here on your doorstep.

Folkestone & Hythe is home to award-winning beaches and parks, incredible coastal walks, a fantastic range of food and drink, exciting entertainment venues, a diverse range of independent shops and free events.

Naturally, the main spots will be busier than usual during the warmer months - but the real beauty of the district is that there are so many hidden gems. All corners are worth exploring.

Cllr David Wimble, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: "There is always plenty going on across Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh over the summer months and this year is certainly no exception.

"While we wish we could guarantee good weather every day, there is so much to do in our district that there is always something that will brighten your day."

Events taking place in the summer break include the New Romney Country Fayre this weekend (30 July), Folkestone Donkey Derby (13-14 August), Hythe Venetian Fete (17 August), and the Folkestone Air Display (21 August) and Day of Syn celebrations in Dymchurch (27-29 August).

Meanwhile the Lower Leas Coastal Park is now home to a brand-new pirate ship play area including climbing nets, chain bridges and a slide.

Leader Cllr David Monk added: "It is fantastic living in a district that has so much to enjoy whatever the weather. Even when you think you have seen it all you come across something new and that is what makes Folkestone & Hythe so special.

"I am very much looking forward to the Folkestone Air Display we are organising on Sunday 21 August. It is a real thrill to see the incredible aerobatic performers such as the Red Arrows take to our skies - and is a major boost for the local economy too."
