What are conservation area appraisals?
Conservation area appraisals list features like historic buildings, buildings that are locally significant, and important green and open spaces. The documents also point out if anything could be improved.
We use external consultants to prepare our draft conservation area appraisals. We then put them out to consultation, consider any comments made, make amendments, and then publish the final documents.
Once we've finalised the appraisals, we use them to help make decisions about planning applications in, or next to, conservation areas.
