How can I comment on a planning application

Who can comment on a planning application?

Each application is publicised for at least 21 days and anyone can make a comment (known as a 'representation') during this period even if they were not initially consulted on the plans.

Planning applications in your area

You can use the My Area application to find out about planning applications in your area.

Simply type your postcode into the search bar, select your address, and then click on the green 'Your Area' button to see a list of pending and approved planning applications going back 3 years.

How can I comment?

Comment on a planning application

Any comments must be made available for public inspection meaning we cannot treat any comments as confidential.

If you do not provide your name and address your comments will be treated as anonymous and your views will not be taken into account.

Alternative ways to comment

Alternatively, you can comment by post ,or email, giving the reference number of the planning application and your name and address (we can't accept any anonymous representations).

Please note that we cannot update you via post as to the progress of a planning application.

Where do my comments appear?

Any comments submitted online are automatically routed to a holding queue where the final published comments will be reviewed and redacted.  If any comments are deemed to be inappropriate and not relating to land use considerations, they will not be added to the comments section of the planning application.
