Which bin to use
You must put everything that can be recycled into the right bin - otherwise the crew won't pick it up.
Bin | Recyclable items |
---|---|
Purple lid bin or purple box |
Please note: No plastic bags, wrappers or Tetra Pak |
Black box |
Please note: No books or paper with a metallic finish To help stop paper and card being blown away before collection, please place your green food caddy or a heavy loose item on top of the contents of your black box. |

Are used batteries collected?
We collect used batteries with your fortnightly paper recycling. Just put them in a small, clear plastic food bag on top of your black box or recycling bin.
If you have paper or cardboard that won't fit into your box
Large cardboard should be broken down into 'dustbin sized' pieces and placed safely near your black box for collection.
How to recycle other waste
You can take most other recyclable items to your nearest recycling centre including:
- computer parts and other electrical equipment
- clothes and other textiles
- polystyrene foam
- light bulbs, mirrors and Pyrex glass
- bulky waste - you can also arrange a bulky waste pick up
- garden waste - you can also join our garden waste scheme
What can't be recycled
Place the following items in the green lid rubbish bin:
- plastic film, wrappers or bags
- other non-recyclable waste, e.g. nappies
- A Tetra Pak
- Compostable packaging
