Advantage of technology
How we plan to take advantage of technology and make better use of data to improve decision-making, service design and use of resources:
The new finance system will take advantage of available technology to upskill finance staff and automate / streamline processes, enable innovation and improve the quality of the financial reporting/information provided both internally and externally.
The performance framework has been improved with a focus on strategic, corporate key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition, the council's Risk Data Register has also been re-designed to ensure management and members can quickly and easily identify strategic risks and mitigation activities.
A new Corporate Plan is being developed, including a detailed consultation plan and building on relevant data already held to prioritise key areas recognised as important for residents and businesses.
Utilising new technology, the council created two, easy-to-understand videos so residents have a better understanding of what council tax is spent on, whilst also explaining the various ways council tax can be paid, the discounts and support available and promoting the annual draft budget consultation.
Opportunities to use new technology to improve workflows and systems, such as predictive analytics and Al, are being explored through the ICT review.
